General Curriculum Information
Students have a curriculum determined by Alberta Education for each grade in school. Curriculum is what students are expected to learn in that year in each subject area. In GPPSD, we are proud of our high quality education and know that students will be provided with high quality teaching in every classroom. Learn more about what your child will learn in the Alberta Education publication, My Child's Learning.
Resources for Provincial Achievement Tests
Each school board in Alberta sets goals in their education plan. Each goal includes targets that describe what will be accomplished by a certain time. One of these targets is school and school board performance in provincial, standardized tests like the Provincial Achievement Tests (PAT).
The purpose of the Provincial Achievement Testing program is to:
- Determine if students are learning what they are expected to learn
- Report to Albertans how well students have achieved provincial standards at given points in their schooling
- Assist schools, authorities, and the province in monitoring and improving student learning
