Get to Know Your 2025 School Board Trustee Candidates
As part of the upcoming municipal election on October 20, 2025, voters will also elect school board trustees for the Grande Prairie Public School Division. To support informed decision-making, Grande Prairie teacher Monty Simo partnered with members of Trumpeter Local 26 of the Alberta Teachers’ Association to produce a video series featuring all 12 trustee candidates.
The series, available on Trumpeter Local 26’s YouTube channel, is curated by topic and offers each candidate the opportunity to share their views on key issues in public education, including funding, class size, and inclusion. The goal of the project is to provide voters with accessible, transparent insights into the beliefs and priorities of those seeking to represent the community on the school board.
“This is a valuable resource for anyone who wants to better understand the perspectives of those running for trustee,” said James Robinson, Deputy Superintendent of Schools. “These videos offer a clear window into how each candidate approaches the challenges and opportunities facing public education today.”
Community members are encouraged to watch the videos and reflect on the candidates’ responses as they prepare to vote.
