I was born and raised in the Grande Prairie region, and I have lived in the city since 1996. I was first elected as a trustee in 2017 and am now in my second term. The best part of being a trustee, is having the opportunity to serve my community in a way that helps shape education for our children that provides a safe, inclusive, and caring learning environment. I currently work for the City of Grande Prairie Fire Department as a Captain I have been a fire fighter for 21 years. I have been married to my wife Renee for 17 years and we have 2 wonderful children that attend GPPSD schools. I enjoy spending time outdoors with family and our dog, camping, hiking, and traveling. One of my favorite things is watching and supporting our son Porter and daughter Marisol in all their interests. It’s important to me that we provide an environment free of barriers, equal opportunity for all children that is available to our diverse population. Public education needs to be properly funded and focus on more than just academic achievement; it must also prepare children to be good citizens. My priorities for Grande Prairie Public school division are: 1) Making sure we are meeting the needs of our students, staff, and parents. 2) Creating a learning environment that welcomes all students 3) Advocate for proper funding of public schools that will allow us to maintain a safe, welcoming, rewarding learning environment.
