Welcome from our Superintendent of Schools
Thank
you for visiting the Grande Prairie Public School Division’s Careers web
page. This visit could be the start, where your future with the Grande
Prairie Public School Division begins!
The City of
Grande Prairie, with a population of just under 70 000 people, is one of the
youngest communities in all of Canada and is a busy and vibrant community with
the amenities of a much larger community. The opportunity to participate
in Arts, culture, sports and recreation, both inside and just outside of the
City, are plentiful. Grande Prairie is an exciting place to live.
Similarly,
the Grande Prairie Public School Division is a vibrant and growing school
division. With 18 schools, 6 of which are new since 2007, we are fortunate to
have outstanding facilities to support our 8400+ students. We are also a
young district, with approximately 70% of our 8400+ students are in grades
pre-school to grade 8. Given that Grande Prairie’s economy is among the
strongest in the province, and that GP currently has more children aged 4 and
under than seniors over the age of 65, we expect to continue to grow into the
future and we want you to be part of our team.
The mission
of our school division is to ensure every student succeeds, both inside and
outside of the classroom. Our schools have a strong sense of community,
as is evident on their Facebook pages, and it is our belief a strong sense of
community helps build the foundation on which students will experience
success. Our Division community is built, and fostered, at events like
our annual Board Social, where Trustees recognize employees for their long
service and exemplary commitment to our students and we celebrate the culture
of Grande Prairie Public together. Supporting our staff is also essential
to student success, and in our annual staff satisfaction survey (completed last
year by over 700 of our staff), over 94% of respondents identified they are
satisfied or very satisfied with GPPSD as a place to work. We have high
expectations for our employees, and their satisfaction matters to us. If
you join our team, you will see firsthand that leaders in our schools and
departments work hard to provide staff the opportunity to grow and develop
mastery in their roles.
In short,
with a focus on community, high expectations, personal growth and continuous
improvement for students and staff, the Grande Prairie Public School Division is a great place to start your career. It is my hope that everyone who
starts with us, will have a long career with GPPSD, filled with amazing
opportunities, success, and memories.
I look
forward to meeting you in person at our next new staff orientation.
