At Swanavon School, students receive French as a Second Language (FSL) in Grades 4, 5 & 6.  In Alberta, French as a Second Language (FSL) is taught as a subject.  Research has demonstrated that a second language is best taught over the school year to enable students to develop communication skills, linguistic knowledge, cultural understanding, intercultural competence and language learning.

Swanavon students have French as a Second Language classes three times per week.
