Education on sexuality and healthy relationships is a need for all youth. Many find sex education challenging, especially when parenting youth with developmental disabilities. This session will help prepare parents and guardians to start this important conversation with your child as they prepare for puberty and becoming adults. A brief overview of sexual development, including specific challenges for youth on the ASD will be provided. Discussion will focus on resources and helpful teaching strategies that will balance developing knowledge and skills for healthy intimate relationships while managing risks.
