The Grande Prairie
Public School District supports the provision of off-campus education
opportunities through school and community partnerships to help students
acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes and gain practical experience related
to life skills and career opportunities. Off-campus
education includes work study, work experience programs, registered
apprenticeship programs/youth internship programs.
According to Alberta
Education, off-campus education provides
opportunities for junior and senior high school students to explore and expand
their career interests, skills and knowledge related to work and other life
roles.
At Grande Prairie
Public, we believe that providing students with many learner and career pathway
opportunities while they are in high school allows students to explore their
future possibilities now. These types of opportunities lead to students experiencing
real life looks at the world of careers and work beyond high school.
