At Alexander Forbes The Academy, we strive to prepare our students to impact, not only themselves, but also their families, communities and the world. It is our goal to provide students with the skills, knowledge and attitudes to be leaders in the 21st Century. Using literacy and numeracy as areas of focus for instruction, students are given the opportunity to learn in small groups, set goals, and focus on their strengths.
Central to our practice is building students' commitment to not only their own learning, but also the learning of others in our school community. A strong tradition of our students supporting the learning of one another is central to the long-term success of our school. Teachers take into consideration student learning styles, the integration of technology, creative groupings, while striving towards a family atmosphere where parents are partners.
Alexander Forbes is also the main campus for The Academy, which is a "program of choice" in Grande Prairie Public Schools that focuses, not only on the Alberta curriculum, but adds a concentration to address a passion for sports or fine arts in four areas: dance, hockey, soccer and golf. Alexander Forbes The Academy serves students from grades 4-8. We also have satellite campuses Charles Spencer High School for our grades nine to twelve students and at École Montrose for our grades five to eight French students.
A passion for sport or fine art can positively drive a passion for education and character development. Our goal is to integrate excellence in education, athletics, and positive character development in every day of our student-athletes' educational experience. Come see what passion driven education can do for you!
