About the (GPCHS) school

The new Grande Prairie Composite High School is a grade 9-12 school with a student population of approximately 1250 and a staff population of 108. 

The school features a range of course choices and programs including:

  • International Baccalaureate programming
  • Career and Technology Studies
  • Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAP)
  • Senior Trades
  • Music
  • Leadership
  • Languages
  • Fine Arts
  • Dual Credit Opportunities

The school has a long and successful history of student participation in the Skills Alberta and Skills Canada competitions

The Grande Prairie Composite High School’s Phoenix is set to rise for the 22/23 school year
 Announcing the opening of the new Grande Prairie Composite High School (GPCHS) facility for the 2022/2023 School Year. The new school is the single largest high school north of Edmonton and will be opening its doors to over 1,200 Grade 9-12 students.

The Grande Prairie Public School Division is extremely pleased to share that this morning the Minister of Education, the Honourable David Eggen, announced the approval of a replacement for the Grande Prairie Composite High School. Minister Eggen’s announcement occurred at a press conference held at Woodhaven Middle School in Spruce Grove, Alberta at 10:00 a.m.
