Late entry immersion is an opportunity for students entering Grade 5 to consider learning a second language to become bilingual. Students are taught in French for 75% of the instructional day, including their core subjects. Students progress as a cohort in grades 5, 6, 7 and 8. In grade 9 students are able to integrate with grade 9 early immersion students for French Immersion High School programming. Students are taught the same curriculum as all other Alberta students however the language of instruction is French.
The late Entry Immersion program is offered at École Montrose School for grades 5-8 and at Charles Spencer High School for grades 9-12.
Students and families do NOT need to know French to enter this program.
