As the hub of the
Peace River district, Grande Prairie has all the necessary shopping and
entertainment venues as well as outstanding sports facilities. We note that
Grande Prairie has a regional airport with easy connections to direct flights
to Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver, and easy connections to the world. Our
airport is serviced by Air Canada and WestJet airlines in addition to regional
carriers.
The region is
blessed with a strong economy with oil & gas, agriculture, and forestry
supporting a strong service industry in the city. Recent additions to the
community such as the Eastlink Center and the modernization of the Grande Prairie Public Library and
Art Gallery, highlight the commitment of the city to provide its citizens with
access to an outstanding lifestyle. Access to the Rocky Mountains and Jasper
national park is just a short 3 hour drive south west through the beautiful
Grande Cache wilderness area. Residents are actively involved in a wide range
of camping, hiking, and outdoor activities as a result of this ready access in
the region.
Graduates of Grande
Prairie's high schools attend Universities across the entire country, with the
University of Alberta in Edmonton the closest and largest recipient of our
graduates. Along with many apprenticeship, certificate and diploma programs, Grande Prairie Regional College offers students several University
