ALBERTA EDUCATION DUAL CREDIT STRATEGY AND GPPSD
"The Government of Alberta is working in partnership with schools, communities, post-secondary institutions and industry to offer a wide range of exciting and rewarding learning opportunities for students. The Provincial Dual Credit Strategy creates more opportunities for students to earn credits in high school and post-secondary institutions at the same time, as well as opportunities for preferred placement (post-secondary course exemption) and workplace certification.
The Provincial Dual Credit Strategy assists school jurisdictions, post-secondary institutions, and business and industry or community partners in expanding or creating dual credit opportunities that:
- engage students in their learning through pathways that open their possible futures
- motivate students to finish high school
- inspire students to learn, work and live in the local community
- give students the confidence to transition from high school to post-secondary and/or the workplace"

Grande Prairie Public School District is excited to be an active partner in a number of dual credit opportunities for our high school students.
Students are encouraged to have early discussions with their school to determine if one of the opportunities could be a potential learning pathway for them.
As per Administration Procedure 366, students are required to be enrolled as a full time student with GPPSD to apply for dual credit courses, as well as pay a $300 Dual Credit Caution Fee (AP 367) that will be refunded upon successful course completion.

GPPSD AND CAREERS: THE NEXT GENERATION
CAREERS: The Next Generation has partnered with GPPSD to offer Water and Wastewater Operations (WWO), Oil and Gas Production Operations (OGPO) and Power Engineering. Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) is our post-secondary partner for the WWO and OGPO programs and Northern Lakes College for Power Engineering.
These programs will allow students to engage in real career based education that will provide them with, not only their high school programming but also post-secondary certification.
