Grande Prairie Composite High School Student Awarded Prestigious Scholarship

Grande Prairie, AB, May 3, 2022 – Daniela Falaye, a Grande Prairie Composite High School student, has been awarded a prestigious University of Calgary scholarship.


The Grande Prairie Composite High School is proud to announce Daniela Falaye, a Grade 12 student in the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme will be receiving the prestigious $60,000 Jim Dinning and Evelyn Main Chancellor's Scholarship to study at the University of Calgary beginning in September of 2022.Daniela Falaye.png.jpg

 Falaye is the first Grande Prairie Composite High School (GPCHS) student to be awarded the University of Calgary's Chancellor's Scholarship. She was nominated by GPCHS for her outstanding academic achievements, community involvement and leadership.

Daniela wants to thank "all the outstanding teachers at the Grande Prairie Composite High School who have helped me throughout my schooling. I also want to say a special thank-you to my mom for all the support and sacrifices. I look forward to furthering my education at the University of Calgary in Neuroscience."   

Mr. Voybeda, Principal at GPCHS says, "we are very proud of Daniela for her accomplishments and her ongoing contributions to the Grande Prairie Composite High School. As a school, it is gratifying to see Daniela get recognized for all she has done, and we look forward to seeing what she continues to do in the next chapter of her life."

The success of GPPSD students in earning significant post-secondary scholarships over the years is inspiring. This program allows students to experience unique challenges, creating growth and setting a strong foundation for future successes."

Approximately $475,000 in scholarships have been awarded to IB students at the GPCHS since the  2015-2016 School Year:

  • 2015/2016 – Loran Scholarship – up to $100,00
  • 2015/2016 – TD Bank Scholarship – approx. $75,000
  • 2016/2017- Schulich Scholarship – approx.. $80,000
  • 2019/2020 – Schulich Scholarship – approx.. $80,000
  • 2020/2021 – Schulich Scholarship – approx.. $80,000
  • 2021/2022 – Jim Dinning and Evelyn Main Chancellor's Scholarship – up to $60,000

About the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme at the Grande Prairie Composite High School:
