– The Superintendent and the Board of Trustees of the Grande Prairie Public School District are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. James Robinson to the position of Deputy Superintendent effective August 1, 2018.
“Those who have worked with James will attest to the breadth and depth of his knowledge and skill and to his ability to form strong relationships. James has been an excellent addition to GPPSD since joining our team, and his leadership in this new role will continue to benefit our District a great deal into the future,” said, Sandy McDonald, Superintendent of Schools.
Mr. Robinson has been employed with the Grande Prairie Public School District since 2012 when he took on the role of Assistant Superintendent – Student Services. His portfolio consisted of Inclusive Education, First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) education programming, Alternative programming, Student wellness, Risk Assessment Protocols, Crisis/Trauma Response Planning, discipline referrals to Central Office and senior oversight of Program Unit Funding (PUF) programming.
In 2017 his role changed to that of Assistant Superintendent – Programs and Planning where his portfolio included curriculum, data, surveys and First Nations, Métis and Inuit programming. Mr. Robinson began his career in education as a junior high and senior high school teacher for eight years, served as a principal for seven years and was, employed as the Director of Education at the Tlicho Community Services Agency in the Northwest Territories. Mr. Robinson has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, a Bachelor of Education degree from the University in New Brunswick, as well as, a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Calgary.
Mr. Robinson and his wife Lisa, who is also an educator, are the proud parents of three daughters.
