While students participate in daily physical activites as outlined by Alberta Education, the opportunities to participate in team sports and Intramural activities are also readily available for Parkside students.
Physical Education
With the advantage of having a P.E. specialist, students at École Parkside actively participate in an enriched Physical Education program based on the ABCD curricular outcomes from the program of studies (Activity, Benefits health, Cooperation, Do it Daily…for life). Through a wide variety of activities and games daily 30 min lessons focus on developing gross motor skills, fundamentals for game play, cooperation, fair play with the ideology of leading a active and healthy lifestyle.
Extra Curricular Opportunities
Students at École Parkside are given the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities involving sports. The Cross Country Run club kicks off the year in September ending the month with a district-wide cross-country run at Muskoseepi Park. Through this students build school spirit,as well as learn the benefits of active and healthy living. Various team building sports are also offered throughout the year such as Newcomball ( modified volleyball), Bordenball (team handball), Basketball and Curling. District wide games or tournaments are held for all team sports, celebrating team play. A school based Track and Field is held in preparation for the District-wide Meet in Mayfor grade 5 and 6 students.
