Bienvenue à l’école Parkside,
Let us highlight why this school is a special place to learn.
Parkside is unique in the Public School District as it is the only French Immersion Centre for students in preschool to grade 6. A major strength of the school is the creation of effective partnerships within our entire school community. All those who visit our school quickly will discover a warm family atmosphere where parent involvement is encouraged, and students are engaged both academically and socially.
Parkside is a good choice for your child because we offer:
- Enhanced programming with music in all grades with band and orchestra in grades 4 through 6, physical education, art, and technology, with specialists on site
- Academic enrichment support
- Varied extracurricular opportunities
- Stable, experienced teaching staff
- Character education through bi-weekly assemblies and in class instruction
We believe it is our responsibility to keep parents informed of the programs, routines and policies of our school, and more importantly, that two-way communication is an essential key to school success. On our web site, you will find a list of staff members, a calendar of upcoming events and our bi-weekly newsletter. Our school plan identifies strategies that we are undertaking this year to reach our school goals in literacy, numeracy and social responsibility. To support our English speaking families we also offer an after school homework program two times a week, from 3:02 until 4pm. Our Parent Advisory Council is vibrant and active in supporting school initiatives and programming.
To assist working parents the school houses a structured day care program, as well as the opportunity for pre-school experience. Glory Garden provides out of school care five days a week and for School Improvement Days, when classes are not held. The pre-school program is offered for children 3-5 years of age two mornings a week.
As a Professional Learning Community our staff work together to ensure the success of students through the provision of equitable and consistent learning goals, resources, and instructional strategies. We encourage parents to be active participants in their child's learning by contacting their child’s teacher, or the administrative or front of office staff with any questions or concerns.
