School Discipline Policy

The goal of the Parkside discipline policy is to help young people develop responsible and productive social behaviour.
It is expected that the students of Parkside will conduct themselves in a manner that demonstrates respect for self, others and the facility that they share.  A positive approach to discipline will be taken and attempts will be made to guide students to develop greater self-control and concern for the rights and privileges of others.
At École Parkside School we strive to be a school where:
  • all persons are respected and treated with tolerance
  • students are expected to take responsibility for their behaviour and learning
  • we have a reasonably quiet and safe environment to work and study curriculum material
  • personal and school property is respected
  • the school building and grounds are safe and clean
 

 Classrooms

 

The classrooms of Parkside wil be a safe and productive learning environment where people intereact with respect and courtesy.

  • Students will have required materials and supplies
  • Students will work cooperatively with others
  • Students will remain in the classroom unless they have permission to leave
 

 Playground

 

The playground at Parkside will be a safe environment for all students.

  • Students will play in a safe manner (No play fighting, wrestling or other inappropriate activities)
  • Students shall keep the playground clean
  • Students shall remain within the school boundaries
 

 Lunchroom

 

Students will eat their lunch in a safe, calm and orderly atmosphere.

  • Students shall adhere to the posted classroom rules for student behavior
  • Students will respond positively and respectfully to supervisors and others
  • When dismissed students shall exit the lunchroom quickly and quietly, in an orderly fashion
 

 Bus

 

Students catching the district transportation after school will do so in a safe and orderly fashion.

  • Riders shall stay in line, first come, first served
  • Riders shall catch the bus at school and not walk to the transfer spot
  • Riders shall be courteous to the bus driver and other passengers
 

 Consequences for Infractions

 

When a student misbehaves staff will implement the most appropriate consequences.  These may include:

  • A non-verbal reminder
  • A personal verbal reminder
  • A verbal reprimand
  • Removal of student from the area/activity
  • Contact the parents
  • Detention
  • Referral to administration
  • Loss of privileges
  • Suspension from class
  • Suspension from school
  • Inappropriate behaviour deemed severe or dangerous will result in immediate referral to school administration for disciplinary action.

Weather

Students will stay indoors for recess when temperatures drop below
-22 degrees Celsius including the windchill factor.

Red Dot Day=Outside Recess

Green Dot Day=Inside Recess

 

Footwear

To assist with keeping the school clean, we would appreciate your child having a pair of shoes to be worn ONLY indoors. Please avoid the purchase of BLACK SOLED shoes as these can noticeably mark the floors.
