A community approach to helping families and keeping kids in school.

What is a School Community Team?

The team is an inter-agency group that meets in each school at least once a month to help parents and students who are in need of support from helping agencies.

What Services do the Team offer?

The Team offers weekly case conferences for parents and school staff.  It also offers workshops to support growth and development of students, parents, and staff.

Who is on the Team?

Many inter-agency groups will offer support to families including a teacher, a school administrator, a Mental Health Thrapist, a Peace Country Health Nurse, an Aboriginal Support Worker, and a Family Enhancement Worker.

Why Go?

If you or someone you know is having difficulty with family relationships, school problems, or parenting problems, then the Team is willing to help. the Team offers advice, suggestions, good listening and referral information on a wide variety of topics. The focus is on helping entire families cope with difficult situations in an effective manner.  The service is free and confidential.

Parents and students need to go to Team when there are initial concerns. The purpose of Team is to intervene and problem solve as early as possible before a problem becomes a crisis. 

Our main goal is to help parents whose child/children are experiencing difficulties at school and home.

Support is provided through:

  • Meetings (including parents and team members)
  • Classroom Presentations
  • Parent Workshops and Information
  • Consultation with teachers
  • Resource Materials
  • Referrals to Community Agencies
  • Parent Resource Library

Contact the school at 532 - 0743, talk to your child's teacher, or contact any of the team members listed above. the service which the Team provides is free and confidential.
