First Student Bussing
“Message from Stan Weber, Senior Vice President of First Student
During the beginning part of the school year, starting in September 2012, parents and students experienced frustration with ride times, communication, and pick-up and drop-off times. We would like to start by apologizing for these frustrations.
These are difficult times for busing in many areas of Alberta, given the robust economy and low unemployment against provincial funding restrictions. Certainly these circumstances apply in full measure at Grande Prairie and to some extent more so than some other towns and cities. Already we have made the following changes to address concerns and have worked to improve services to students and seen positive results:
Restructured our central office to ensure communication with parents.
Initiated an aggressive advertising campaign for bus drivers.
We would like to share some information around some key factors of the transportation of students, what has been done to improve the system, what more we can do and also what others can do, including the provincial government. Please see the below attached for a copy of the full letter, including driver supply, complexities of routing, and communication.
I invite those who may have specific questions on student transportation to email me at email@example.com or 403-531-3931.
Thank you for your time and understanding.”
