At the Grande Prairie Composite High School, we recognize each student entrusted to us as an individual with different needs, abilities, interests and experiences. All are equal before us, and as a school we strive to provide programs and activities to accommodate their individual abilities and needs.
Education at our school is a partnership - a partnership between students, parents, and staff. Maximum learning occurs when each partner fulfils his/her part in this shared responsibility.
For the students, our school programs are extensive, but common to all is the expectation of maximum scholastic achievement. All students are expected to put forth the effort necessary to state in all honesty at the end of the term, "I've done my very best."
Equally important, is the further development of one's character and social self through involvement in co-curricular (teams and clubs) and intramural activities.
Finally, our students are to conduct themselves in accordance with school rules and regulations, respecting the rights and property of others. Each student is expected to represent his/herself and their school in the most positive fashion possible.
As a staff, we pledge to present the programs as outlined by Alberta Education, to evaluate in a fair and just manner, to maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, and to provide leadership in extracurricular activities.
The role of parents is seen as being supportive both to their children and to the school, as giving positive feedback or encouragement freely, or, if it is needed, helping with a push in the right direction. Open communication is the golden thread that links, and is basic to this partnership with particular emphasis on communication between teachers and parents.
The Grande Prairie Composite High School is proud of its history of serving youth in Grande Prairie. We aim to maintain and improve our quest for the highest quality of education.
