Promotion

The majority of students earn promotions to the next grade because they have successfully met the learning objectives established for their grade level.  Parents will be notified of their child’s academic and social progress through Student Progress Reports and informal communications with teachers.  Extra effort is made to maintain close communications with parents of children who are experiencing difficulty with the content.

When students are experiencing difficulty in meeting the learning outcomes, parents will be contacted to discuss the concerns as early as possible.  At the end of June, teachers will meet to review the progress of each student.  For those students who have not passed two or more core courses special recommendations may be made for the following year, and discussions will take place with parents regarding student promotion.

The decision to promote or retain a student is a very important decision, and it will not be made without parental involvement.
