School Profile
Aspen Grove serves 436 kindergarten to Grade 6 students in the rapidly growing communities of the city's southeast corner. The school is next to Montrose Junior High School and benefits from proximity to the junior high playing fields and facilities. Aspen Grove has a large gymnasium, computer lab and extensive library resources. Students also have use of a large, creative playground. At Aspen Grove we pride ourselves as learners. Program/Learning Environment
The school has a strong link to the community and a high level of parent invovlement and participation in school activities. The School Council is extremely active and supportive of the school goal of excellence in education and responsible citizenship. Aspen Grove's professional learning community has a strong academic focus and provides both academic enrichment and remedial support for students with exceptional needs through a team teaching effort. Students participate in a quality daily physical education program and enjoy instruction in music, including choral, band and orchestra, and in art, including use of a pottery kiln. Students have multiple opportunities for involvement in student leadership and intramural activities.
A Community of Learners
Aspen Grove operates as Professional Learning Community. Staff work collaboratively to meet the curriculum expectations provided by the Alberta Government while meeting the needs of the learners. Through professional development opportunities, the staff is kept up-to-date on current educational research.
